A Dog’s Cancer Protocol

originally written by David Smith

Late May 2019 I noticed each time my dog Tilly went to toilet she had an approx. 1.5cm prolapse of her bottom. After a biopsy it was revealed she had B-Cell Lymphoma and a tumor just inside her rectum which when the stools passed, it caused the lining to push out. We discussed chemo and that was decided against on account of Tilly’s distress at going to the vets. She was put on 15mg of Prednisolone. After 4 or 5 days Tilly was having bad side effects and there was a need to wean her off them.

So the hunt was on to give a Holistic approach but this was very new to me. Couldn’t get any help or even replies from holistic vets so I started to research and spent 100’s of hours doing this research including talking to other Face Book group members and customer service reps for supplements companies and got my start. In the diary it can be seen I give Pre/Probiotics every 4 days then I give Bone Broth which is gently heated up with Nettle Leaf, fresh Ginger, dried Rosehip, Turmeric Powder and for every 500g of broth, I also put in 10,000mg or 5 opened capsules of Boswellia Serrata aka Frankincense. Tilly gets 100g per day in the broth. I put 2 supplements in which are Vitamin C as Calcium Ascorbate and 1g of a 4 blend of Medicinal Mushrooms, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Maitake and Cordyceps Militaris, Mushrooms are said to work better as a mix.

Quercetin and Bromelain should be given on an empty tummy as is the IP6. I then give a full spectrum CBD which has CBDA, CBN, CBG and CBC as well as Terpenes and other good stuff, this gives the entourage affect.

Now we come to the Essiac, Tilly is having 15ml once a day and loves the stuff and drinks it neat out of her bowl, I also give this on an empty tummy. More Milk Thistle which is a Liver cleaner or detox.

Dinner comprises of raw food and fresh organic veg of Broccoli and Curly Kale with 5 supplements. The supplements are another gram of Medicinal Mushrooms, a teaspoon of Turmeric Paste another 500mg Vitamin C capsule, a Krill capsule and an Astaxanthin capsule.

When reducing the steroid Prednisolone down I maintained a dose Tilly could cope with while I purchased all my supplements and got myself organized. To date I haven’t taken her off it. I give half of one tablet, 2.5mg which is next to nothing for a 36lb dog. Another 2 x IP6 capsules and 12 more drops of CBD.

I am not a vet or expert and came up with this regimen by my own research and cannot guarantee it would work for all dogs. Tilly was given 4 – 6 weeks based on her not being able to take her full dose of steroids and if she could was given 4 – 6 months. That was on the 25th June 2019, over 10 months ago. Tilly is still doing great and has a good appetite, is playful and very energetic.

One important thing I believe is to treat your dog as a normal dog if possible, they don’t know they have cancer. Tilly has a good run and play session with her Belgian Shepherd sister Jazz on our plot of land. Exercise is good because it helps keep the Lymphatic system moving as it isn’t moved by the heart. Also I believe that you must give your dog a reason to fight and they all love a good play in the garden or out on a field.

This is a constant battle and I do some reading on cancer help most nights and the Essiac is a fairly recent thing of about 3 months and while I cannot put Tilly’s fight against cancer down to one thing i.e. Essiac, it goes to help overall and for my dog is a treat.

I give a week off the Essiac, Quercetin and Bromelain, IP6 and Milk Thistle every now and again. I alternate which supplement I will omit for that week so stop one at a time.

In this photo can be seen the ingredients I use to make Tilly’s breakfast Broth. Allepey Turmeric is a stronger Turmeric than standard and is nearly twice as strong. The small thing in the front is ginger which I grate into the mix. We live in the UK and this Broth comes from Scotland though there are many internet posts of how to make Bone Broth. The Broth is just full of goodness and all 4 of my dogs love it.

In the last photo can be seen all the supplements I give Tilly. You can see the 4 Mushrooms at the back which I put equal amounts in a zip lock bag and mix then give one gram of the total mix. The mix of Mushrooms can be seen in the little pot with the white lid. The jam jar with the red lid has my Turmeric paste in which I make. When making your own Turmeric Paste aka Golden Paste remember to put crushed black peppercorn in and some oil to aid absorption. I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil though some use Coconut Oil. All the rest is self-explanatory. There is a large amount of info on the Internet on all the supplements and herbs I give.
